Benchtop Guide
A benchtop starts long before the stonemason's saw. The slab you choose decides most of what you will live with — the colour, the movement, the durability. In Newcastle the process usually runs: choose your slab, then your builder, kitchen company or stonemason fabricates and installs it. Slab House is the first step — we hold full-size natural stone slabs you can walk around in person at our Mayfield West showroom, and we work alongside your fabricator.
Choosing from a 100mm sample is how benchtops go wrong. Natural stone varies across every slab — the veining that makes it worth having can't be judged from a swatch. Seeing the exact slab that will become your benchtop is the only reliable way to choose it.

Benchtop budgets split between the slab and the fabrication. On the slab side, price follows rarity and origin — a consistent granite sits well below a rare Brazilian quartzite. On the fabrication side, edge profiles, cutouts, mitred waterfalls and installation complexity drive the stonemason's quote. We're happy to give slab pricing over the phone or by enquiry, and every slab in the showroom is priced and available to view.
Trade & Trade-AdjacentWe supply stonemasons, kitchen companies, builders, architects and interior designers across Newcastle, the Hunter, the Central Coast, Sydney and the Mid North Coast — and we work directly with homeowners alongside their fabricator. If you don't have a stonemason yet, ask us and we can point you to fabricators we work with regularly.
Perfect — that's how it's designed to work. Choose and hold your slab with us, and we coordinate collection or delivery with your fabricator. You get the stone you actually saw, and your stonemason gets a slab that's been stored properly and inspected before it leaves.
Our showroom at 1/5 Coal Wash Drive, Mayfield West is open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9am–3pm, and by appointment outside those hours — 7 days a week, weekends included. Walk the racks, see every slab under natural light, and take photos to your fabricator and designer.
