Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you might want to ask before you choose your stone

← Back to Slab House
Where do your stone slabs come from?

Every slab in our collection is personally selected at the quarry — primarily in Brazil and Italy — and imported directly to our Newcastle showroom. Because we hand-pick each block, no two slabs are identical and many are genuinely one-off.

Can I come and see the slabs in person?

Yes. Our Mayfield space is open by appointment so we can give you our full attention and walk you through the slabs suited to your project. Get in touch to arrange a time that works for you.

Are the slabs one-off, and can I reserve one?

Many of our slabs are unique pieces — when a particular slab is gone, it's gone. If you've seen one you love, contact us and we can talk through holding or reserving it for your project.

Which stone is best for a kitchen benchtop?

It depends on the look and how the kitchen is used. Quartzite and granite are the most hard-wearing and heat- and scratch-resistant; dolomite offers a marble-like look with more durability; marble is the most acid-sensitive and best suited to people who embrace a natural patina. We're happy to advise based on your lifestyle.

Do natural stone surfaces need sealing?

Most natural stone benefits from sealing to resist staining, and should be resealed periodically depending on the stone and how it's used. Our Stone Care Guide covers this in detail, and we'll give you specific guidance for the stone you choose.

What does natural stone cost?

Pricing varies with the material, rarity, slab size and finish — natural stone is priced per slab rather than a flat rate. Tell us about your project and we'll give you an indicative quote.

How do I get a quote or start a project?

The fastest way is our enquiry form — share your project details and any slabs you're drawn to, and we'll respond, typically within one business day. You're also welcome to call us directly.
